A piece made just for you
There's nothing quite like owning a unique piece of art that holds special meaning for you, and you alone. Perhaps you have a memory of a time or place you'd love to revisit, again and again — or a favourite season or landscape that inspires you.
Even a vision of somewhere you've never been but feels like it should be your spiritual home — original art makes that happen. Objects, colours, photographs — all of these and more may evoke scenes you've long treasured.
If you'd like to recapture their essence in a more tangible, perhaps larger-scale way, let's chat to see if a commission piece could be the way forward.
A range of styles, a range of media
Charcoal, pastel, acrylic, watercolour — I work in whatever medium suits your piece, not the other way round.
How a commission comes together
Followed here through one commission, an ancient oak, from first sighting to finished, framed piece.
STEP 1
The initial chat
We meet to talk through what you're looking for — where the piece will hang, the mood it should create, the media you'd like me to use, and any art that's inspired you along the way.
STEP 2
Gathering information
Photographs, sketches, and — if I'm working in colour — a palette that reflects our conversation. This is where the piece really starts to take shape.
STEP 3
Composition & ideas
I pull together ideas for the composition — sometimes three or four — and we decide together, often combining studies. Once the scale (and price) is set, a 40% non-refundable deposit secures the commission.
STEP 4
Bringing it to life
I keep you updated from the studio as the piece grows, with room for small adjustments along the way. Framing and installation can be arranged for an extra fee.
Although I work predominantly in charcoal and pastels, none of the commissions I've completed since launching Sonia Scott-Job Art have used either... so far! I work across a variety of styles to suit my clients' tastes, as you can see above.
I can't wait to hear what you'd like me to create just for you.
