Tide and Time

£125.00

Charcoal on paper

The Sea Wall Collection at the Geo Café

Some waves off Cornwall’s Atlantic Coast are monstrous, especially during times of incoming storms.  The scene here draws heavily on that of the Botallack engine house ruins on the Tin Coast near St Just, and is another distant nod to family history, in that my great-great-grandfather was the manager, not of a tin, but of a Cornish copper mine. However robustly we may think we have constructed our buildings, we are no match for the elements, yet there is a timelessness that prevails in the granite rocks from which the blocks are hewn. Time and tide may wait for no man, but oh, what joy is there to be had in taking one’s time to watch the turning of the tides.

Unframed - 30cm x 21cm (12in x 8in)
Framed - 42.5cm x 32.5cm (16.5 x 12.75 inches)

This artwork is framed behind non-reflective glazing with a soft white mount and black frame, strung and ready to hang in its new home.
