It’s always a delight to see goldfinches visit the garden, with their scarlet faces and brilliant cadmium-yellow flashes on their wings. I like to think they wear a little waistcoat that I’m sure is smarter in the spring - when I painted this little songbird – than it is later in the year, but I love seeing them all year round.
